Eruption Mayon

Mayon volcano in the Philippines is currently erupting at low levels, with activity continuing since mid-July. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has recorded daily volcanic earthquakes, occasional rockfalls, and ash emissions. Sulfur dioxide emissions have been variable, with a notable spike recorded on 17 August. Recent deformation measurements show inflation on the northern and eastern flanks of the volcano.

If you are on site within the affected 50 km radius around Tabaco, you may experience ash fall, volcanic gases, and ground shaking from earthquakes. Visibility and air quality can be significantly impacted. Avoid areas close to the volcano and any evacuation zones established by local authorities.

Follow all instructions from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology and local government officials. Wear protective masks if ash is present, stay indoors when possible, and monitor official updates regularly. Keep emergency supplies accessible and have an evacuation plan ready.
